Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) conducted an investigation of the World Trade Center and surrounding damaged buildings. At the request of The Masonry Society, David T. Biggs of Ryan- Biggs Associates participated on the investigation team. This report presents his personal observations of Ground Zero, the towers’ collapse, and the performance of masonry on the sur round ing buildings. Numerous color photographs are included in the report.
